Hello Students, today we will explore the tools that photoshop provides to create simple 3D objects, import complex 3D objects, and how to position and use them in a composition. See below for some source files and links. Your goal for today is to send me two JPG's to show your experimentation with the 3D tools. One should have an example of PS's 3D primitives, the other will be a file you import from an external source.
Look over this tutorial if there is a specific 3D tool you want to use.. it covers most of the basics.
Photoshop Tutorial - Basics of Photoshop 3D
Photoshop can read and import some common 3D file formats. The formats are 3DS, DAE, KMZ, U3D and OBJ files. Its important to use a compatible file.
This website contains many free 3D models for you to download and use in PS. Enter "3DS" or "OBJ" into the search field to find 3D models that are PS compatible.
