Today we covered:
Bitmap vs Vector
- Illustrator is mostly vector based, while photoshop is mostly bitmap based
- Vector programs use Bezier curves to generate smooth artwork, which is scaleable in size without losing quality.
- Bitmap programs such as Photoshop are pixel based, each pixel contains information for placement and color. Bitmap images must be created at their final desired size, scaling them up can result in loss of quality.
Color
- Their are two main color modes, RGB (Red Green Blue) which is best for creating artwork for viewing on screen, and CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black) which is best for creating artwork that is meant to be printed.
Introduction to Illustrator
- Control-N to make a new document, set your measurement to inches, set your desired size
- Artboard VS White space
- The Selection Tool (black arrow) VS the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow).
- Pen Tool
- Pencil Tool
- Shape Tools
- Modifier Tools
- Eye Dropper Tool
